1. With another star studded rehash of the Nuremberg trial running in cinemas today we allowed a state to play smash with children, women, unarmed men as if it was peak 1942 and the world never bothered to prosecute war criminals. Worse, opposing this slaughter can and will get you arrested, banned, fired, marginalized, vilified, ridiculed…

2. Shallowness and broken concentration spans spread like wildfire. The ability to engage with complex texts eroded further. With AI even writing no longer needs any doing. (this was written without AI, hence the messy, unpolished structure)

3. The US descended further into tribalism and influencers were played out against each other like YouTube gladiators. Note the ubiquitous titles like ‘Internet talking head X DESTROYS internet talking head Y’. Political debate has become some sort of blood sport. With society not offering any cushions to those who fall, plenty of Americans dream of dominance and vengeance to escape the humiliation loop

4. With people unconsciously feeling they have very little control over anything at all in the world, obsessions with food, diets, sleep hacking, intermittent fasting, no fap habits, life style choices, etc, keep growing. People are running to the little personal areas where they theoretically can still exert control, though many fail even there, since they hold themselves to impossible personal standards, in the hunt for the perfect partner, the perfect beach body, a bigger salary, a more curated Insta or Linkedin account, etc. Fronting became so rampant, people no longer know when they are being themselves or performing for an imaginary audience.

5. Two countries with very similar languages, a lot of shared history and culture were allowed to continue shooting each other, while of course some rich people got richer selling the weapons involved

6. Sudan sank further into hell, but nobody bothers to understand why, cause, it’s dark skinned folks versus other dark skinned folks. Oh, and some rich people got richer selling the weapons involved

7. Iran continued to be portrayed as the hallmark card of unfreedom and oppression and lack of rights for women, but any western woman voicing her support for Palestine a little too loudly was dragged off by police

8. Erotic tension in public spaces further collapsed, with men now terrified of asking women out or showing any sort of desire, while women hardened and secretly wondered if they had become invisible or why only morons dared to approach them. Flirting kinda died in Europe. It’s been dead for a while in the US.

9. The most toxic most provocative most narcissistic people in any society on earth kept doing a lot better in politics than any decent human being ever could

10. People kept traveling to places, not because they like those places, but because they think selfies in those places make them look accomplished, happy and not like a loser on Instagram in the eyes of people who don’t even actually care about them and have the exact same strategy

11. People fronted and flexed so much in 2025 they forgot what life feels like when you are not fronting and flexing

12. Islamophobia was welcome in 2025, any condemnation of other religions was risky, especially any criticism of members of one of the smaller big religions. God’s fan clubs have a clear pecking order. I could add another 20 points or so, but let me stick to 13 only.

13. And do tell if am being too negative, cause all people I know personally still found seas of time to devote to petty office politics, inane hobbies, family feuds, juicy gossip, talking about going to the gym without going much, attending music festivals and filming every second along with thousands of others also filming every second, etc etc etc Clearly things can go to shit for millions of humans, while for millions of others the little circus of mildly soothing little pleasures continues.

Merry solstice.

I personally did that thing quite a few parents are doing these days where I pretended to enjoy the holidays so as not to ruin my child’s joy or healthy nervous system development by anchoring his childhood in traditions and recurring rituals.

People who meet me face to face tend to think am very cheerful and optimistic.

People who meet me face to face don’t have twitter and don’t have the address to my blog.
