This weekend everyone older than 10 is supposed to be tested.
On Saturday almost a million were tested. About 8,000 turned out to be positive.
Not many people are excited about this decision. Theoretically participation is voluntary, but if you don’t go you are not allowed to go to work. There was also talk of punishing non-participants by stripping away some healthcare benefits.
People waited in line for up to four hours.
The tests are not very reliable.
This has been a unique action on the part of Slovakia so far.
Most people seem to be complying. Slovaks are traditionally very submissive and are quick to bow to authority.
