I take a book I read in a language am familiar with and I read the same book in the language I want to learn.

I have always done it like this and it’s always worked.

The first book you read in the new language is bloody annoying. It’s hard work and requires a lot of discipline. So select a book you really enjoy and that’s not too hard.

Don’t stop to look up words the first time. Unless you really get lost. Just keep reading. Read the book cover to cover. It will rewire your brain and help you absorb the language much faster.

It allows you to progress faster than merely filling in exercise books.
