The waves don’t carry the sounds of screaming children bombed by Israel here. Skip Tel Aviv and vive la vie en Belgique.
Strong waves, cool wind, extremely clean beach with free access stretching 40 miles, a ferris wheel, all cultures represented (a muslim woman with an accent from Antwerp has just offered us a boat to play with), behind you restaurant after restaurant, dozens of places where you can rent go carts, a coastal tram with probably the longest tram line in the world covering the entire Belgian coast line, posts with life guards everywhere who do a terrific job all day long.
Ice cream, waffles, French Fries, vol au vent, stoverij, mussels, people easily switching between multiple languages, very accessible by train, any kind of accomodation you can imagine.
You have to be an expat for ten years to start appreciating your own country when you’re Belgian.
