Some take the destruction of all civilian infrastructure in Gaza and the widespread devastation of southern Lebanon, plus Israel’s occupation of more Syrian territory as proof that Israel has won. Not so visible is how damaged Israel’s reputation, economy and basis for future support is or how alienated western citizens are from their own governments and media. Israel’s internal divisions run deep. The most dangerous threat comes from the split between the radical settlers and a little bit more liberal Israelis who don’t interact much with the colonists in the West Bank and maybe only ever go there during their military service.

The mentality of these radical settlers are now much more influential inside Israel than before. For a long time there was a segment of the jewish Israeli population that put the brakes on the oppression of the Palestinians, but their influence has faded. This is why from time to time you will see a jewish Israeli write on Twitter: ‘What has happened to my country?’ Things have gone too far for some of them, but of course they will do little to stop their fellow citizens or to abandon zionism and see it as what it is: a project that cannot be be maintained without the constant use of power and violence, because the project has toxic roots, is built on lies and never stops destroying the lives of people whose existence stands in its way. Israeli society lives in a dangerous bubble.

It’s unlikely jewish Israelis will see images of what the Palestinians released from Israelis jails look like. They rarely get to see the graphic details of what their bombs do to children. When they see them on social they want to be convinced that what they are seeing is fake. You know, it’s all Pallywood. The behaviour of jewish Israelis online alienates and angers many people because their statements are so tonedeaf and what they complain about – they’re always complaining about something – is so ridiculous compared to what the Palestinians are going through. A lapel pin rattles them as if that lapel pin is going to slash their throat. It’s surreal to see them have the insolent audacity to even talk about those things while babies are freezing to death, while so many parents are mourning their children torn to shreds by Israeli bombs. Bombs that failed to accomplish anything in a military sense.

Israeli officials, big and small, now feel so confident and are convinced that Hebrew is some kind of undecipherable code for outsiders that they are making outrageous and inflammatory statements round the clock. We should all be very grateful for their over the top, bombastic hubris, because they show us their true face and their primitive vitriol costs them the support of millions of citizens around the world. They now had a nutty clown president in the White House to support them, so they are feeling really good about themselves. With everything in Gaza in ruins and Palestinians shivering in tents, with at least 40,000 Palestinians kicked out of their homes in the West Bank recently, with Assad gone, with Southern Lebanon scorched and no sounds of Iranian rockets over the heads they feel pretty comfortable right now.

And yet… The Democrats have already lost an election because of their abetting of Israeli war crimes and their active support for a genocidal campaign. It helped to get Trump in the White House, but Trump’s policies will hurt so many Americans, the clique around him that will do everything to make the rich richer risks pushing the US to the brink of civil war or may boost a third party. To think that the Democratic party would reinvent itself and become the champions of the people is ludicrous of course. They’d sooner bend the knee to King Trump than let a third party dictate policies that go against the wishes of the one percent, the owning class or whatever you want to call the clusters of rich people who run America. It’s imperialism with trans rights and with abortion or imperialism without trans rights and without abortion.

Iran is on the verge of getting nuclear weapons. When that happens Israel will have fewer options to mess with Iranian proxies. With its F-16’s and F-35s dominating the skies over its neighbours it’s easy to forget how weak Israel actually is, how small its population is, how Arab Israelis can, generally, not be counted on to serve in the military, they’re not even conscripted. Israel is tiny. If Egypt, Jordan, Iraq coordinated their armies effectively they could overwhelm Israel quite quickly. Israel would then of course activitate the Samson Option and nuke the whole world. Of all nuclear powers Israel is by far the most likely to actually resort to the use of nuclear bombs, but only in a situation where its already collapsing. What undermines Israel the most however is the blindness of its supporters, of its patriots. This blindness made the tactical military victory by Hamas on October 7th possible.

Israeli zionists are rejecting reality with passionate determination. They don’t want to see their victims, they don’t want to understand their enemies or their motivations, they have long ago decided that their enemies are all animals and brainless wild beasts. They are so disconnected from reality that they can indeed rage against people that see a Holocaust 2.0 in the shockingly dire plight of the Palestinians. They cannot fathom that someone has a problem with their never ending killing spree, no, they only think you are a savage who wants to kill all jews just because they are jews. They also arrogantly speak for all jews and are guilty of the worst form of anti-semitism in the world today: claiming that Israeli acts on behalf of all jews. This then means that Israel murders children and other innocents and makes a sport out of destroying family homes in the name of all jews. It’s revolting to commit atrocities and then to throw even more oil on the fire by claiming you are doing it on behalf of people who keep distancing themselves of your acts in the most emphatic terms.

The bewildering scale of Israeli violence has also given an enormous boost to factual literature advocating for the Palestinians. There is torrent of beautifully written, well-documented and masterfully argued recent books which expose all Israeli lies. This stream of top notch books on Palestine will continue to flow for quite some time because Israeli brutality and tone deaf behaviour has sparked an enormous interest in the cause of the Palestinians. I don’t think there has ever been this much willingness to understand what is going on than right now. That is very troublesome for Israel, because it has to expend huge resources and energy to suppress the truth.

Eventually the zionist project will require so much non-stop efforts from its supporters that many will just abandon ship and move on. The most radicalized elements will be even more dominant then and will alienate even more people with their unrelenting, boundless hatred. So yes, maybe we are seeing zionism’s last hurray. Israel is spending its lethal energy, oblivious to how much blowback its creating, oblivious to the fact that if a state acts like murder is a way to solve problems it teaches its citizens that they too can use violence to solve their problems. Call it trickle down psychopathy.

If we are to continue to believe that humanity is ruled by values such as justice, the pursuit of happiness, democracy – it’s hard to make the case that the west has real democracies, since western citizens can’t believe that their politicians and their media keep supporting Israel -, a kind spirit, solidarity with the suffering, the right of every child to enjoy a carefree childhood, the right to live in or visit the places where you were born, education, freedom, cultural treasures, the protection of and the sancity of motherhood (Israel has no respect for Palestinian mothers whatsoever) then the colony must fall.
