What is the one thing I can do today to really get closer to my goals?
Work on an article on Neo-Confederate beliefs. The Neo-Confederates on Facebook didn’t respond to my comments anymore, so I think they have run out of arguments, which means I may have gathered all their commonly held beliefs. The challenge will be to properly quote my sources. Why I feel so strongly about this topic? Our interpretation of the past determines how we view today’s world and influences our future. If we don’t know our past, we can’t learn from historical blunders, dynamics, etc.
Other things I absolutely want to focus on today:
-translate Dom Hlucheho
-translate an article by Serge Noirsain on American slavery
-a blog idea I can’t get rid of: A book A day. (But can I really read a book a day?)
How can I create more value today than I did yesterday?
I wrote quite a bit yesterday, but I also spent a lot of time listening to conspiracy videos several friends sent me, independently of each other. The speakers in those videos take a ridiculous amount of time to bring their very questionable point across.
What new approach can I try to come closer to my vision?
Make a thorough list of publications I could write for and divide them into categories.
What made me feel happy, in flow, recently?
-Reading the posts by the guest bloggers on this site.
-Reading a lot of criticism of the Zeitgeist movies. I like the way the movies are made, but some of the criticism was correct.
-Throwing around ideas with Mary Fincher and others
What is the one product we can really promote?
Perhaps I don’t have to ask myself this question every day. I’ve been giving the same answer for over a month now: a user friendly version of the Authenticity Diary.
I am grateful for:
-Zuzana and how her stabile mood positively affects me, she creates an atmosphere that fosters productivity and creativity
-input from friends as to how improve my writing
I’m really excited about:
-I didn’t realize the series ‘Vikings’ is returning this fall. I thought it would be back in March 2017. See trailer below. I enjoy it more than ‘Game of Thrones’ (The only two series I allow myself to watch, to save time)
-all the things we are currently working on, even though I’m still worried we won’t finish them properly. No, we just HAVE TO finish them properly.
These are the most important habits I’m building:
– I’ve come up with a daily routine that I want to stick to. It’s called a ‘Sustainable Daily Routine’. It’s counterproductive to try and install a routine you can’t sustain. I’ve put the schedule on the fridge. (in the process I broke one of our magnets, sorry, Zuzi, I sort of glued it back together…)
Stuff I did right:
-Actually checking if what I hear in some documentaries is true or false. Turned out a good deal was rubbish. I feel rather gullible for not checking sooner or not checking more thoroughly.
-Zuzi and I were working till midnight yesterday, on a Sunday. I like that.
-do videos instead of just blogging
-meet with Manuel to push each other to be as productive as possible
-I can’t say it enough: finish things before we start anything new
Things I’ve learned:
-it’s very hard to convince somebody about historical facts if his identity is in part based on his acceptance of lies and distortions. It’s wrong to blame the person for this, because they get these ideas from their environment and are often heavily influenced by family members. Your beliefs are hard to change by the presentation of facts, if your loyalty to family members gets confused with your beliefs. For example: if your father and grandfather kept saying the Confederacy didn’t fight for slavery, and you respected your father and grandfather, it becomes hard to believe anything else, since your dismissal of their beliefs can be felt as a form of betrayal. I salute all people who can disentangle themselves from this dynamic and who can develop new ideas regardless of what their close(d) environment told them or led them to believe.
How do I want to feel today?
How do I want to treat others today?
What I like most is to have a stimulating vibe going, you help me reach my goal, I help you reach your goal, or we find a common goal and throw our combined weight behind it.
Some material stuff I’m acquiring:
Cameras would really come in handy for the projects we have in mind.
How are you going to reward yourself today?
Watching political debates. Most of it is just like eating candy, but I love it.
What kind of people am I inviting into my life today?
People who go all the way when they offer to help you with a project.
The one thing, in general =
Create stories, ‘essential’ bits of information that help make sense of our world.
The power question = How do I train my focus?
Remind yourself of your vision. What does your ideal day look like?
If I get a bit more focus, I’m not too far off from living my ideal day. In a large part because I’m lucky to have very upbeat, caring people around me.
What is the most relaxing activity you can think of?
I find there are activities that make me feel relaxed while I’m doing them, but there are also activities that make me feel relaxed AFTER I do them, and that feeling of relaxation is much more profound. An example of the former is watching Vikings, but examples of the latter are challenging -yet respectful- conversations, playing boardgames with competitive friends and relatives, finishing a project.
