Today I read how a major Anderson wrote to his wife, the words he chose.

A military man in the 19th century.

But he sounded much more affectionate than any adult male european will ever sound.

That was odd.

He was tender, vulnerable, articulate and not afraid at all to express his emotions.

I just find the way Americans expressed themselves in private letters anno 1860 much more intelligent than what happens now.

Men today don’t even know words beyond the mundane. And women don’t expect them and would recoil if they received them.

Everyone feels so flat and vapid. Or high energy fake and vapid when the camera is on.

They talk without saying much.

And their issues bleed out though they are not even fully aware of having issues.

I suppose those who still feel and want to express what they really feel end up being convinced to swallow anti-psychotic meds.
