Likely consequences of unilaterally taking down Maduro by the US:

1. Other countries will feel justified in executing similar moves

2. US criticism of Russia when it tries to change the government of Ukraine becomes even more hypocritical

3. States who are like Venezuela targets for US engineered coups will take notice and bolster their defensive mechanisms, to avoid the same faith

4. Even with Maduro gone the US cannot be sure it will now control Venezuelan oil

5. For Cuba this is probably bad news, but it will be looking for new allies.

6. The move will likely bring Russia, Iran, China closer together

7. It’s a power move and Trump’s domestic popularity will sore, because Americans need action movie spectacle to keep believing in the illusion of American dominance

8. This will in no way affect the flow of illegal drugs to the US and will not save even one American suffering from drug addiction. The harshness of US society is the main driver of the addiction tsunami

9. Less trust in America as a country you can negotiate with

10. Venezuela likely plunged into long term chaos, as almost always happens when the US decapitates a country

11. US again confirms that its foreign policy and morality have nothing to do with each other. It refuses to stop the Israeli government as it systematically pursues ethnic cleansing in Gaza and the West Bank, but it quickly topples a leader of a country that happens to sit on one of the biggest oil reserves in the world. If anyone believes this was done to protect human rights I would like to talk to them about selling them invisible lottery tickets where the prize is a 6 month stay in 4 star hotel on Mars.
