A medic sits next to a girl lying on the cold floor. Her bone is sticking out of her arm. He stays calm for her, inside he’s a wreck. An 11 year old, Zakaria, rinses an ambulance stretcher. The blood forms puddles in the street. A girl runs frantically, her clothes on fire. Ambulances are targetted by Israeli Apache helicopters. Children picking through the rubble of a bomb crater. The kids find the head of a young girl. Zakaria, a scrappy, energetic, boy, runs around for the local press to find out the number of victims after more bombings.

A surgeon has no choice but to saw off the arm of a ten-year old. His only hope is that the boy will survive and will be a ‘bright’ child again. Commentary from a 14 year old boy with perfect English.

A young girl, Renad, hits 1 million subscribers with her cooking show literally filmed with bombs dropping around her. Families racing to gather a few belongings, because a distorted Israeli voice tells them operations are about to start in their area. Gazans saying there were no Hamas fighters in parts of town reduced to dust. One asks: ‘And even if there were one or two, would it be ok to kill so many?’

This docu isn’t Hamas propaganda, since some curse Hamas with the cameras rolling, you hear the story of a drug dealer, you hear Gazans say they think Sinwar is hiding in the tunnels, there is brief elation in the streets as Iran finally targets air bases inside Israel. Not exactly slick Hamas PR.

You’re not allowed to see this docu because it shows the destruction, the carnage, the toll Israel’s militarily stupendously unsuccesful campaign took on the civilian population of Gaza, especially its children. You’re not allowed to see this docu, because you will see people just like you and not soulless killing machines who habitually strangle babies, like some in this world would like you to see in all Palestinians, so you will accept whatever sinister plan Israel has in store for them.

So go watch How to survive a war zone. It will hurt, but it it will strengthen your resolve to fight the good fight and you may find yourself hugging your loved ones with even more devotion.

PS

Those crackling explosions where you hear the glass of the windows cut through the air…. Let’s hope we never get used to that.

PPS To have some uniformity on this website I have decided that all featured images will have a medieval theme. You can like it or not like it, but it’s my solution for now, cause am not good at selecting pictures, but I do want the site to have some sort of recognizable ‘vibe’.

Here are sceenshots from the docu:
