A joyful Trump has just pulled off one of the biggest stunts in US political history, partly because of the incompentence and revolting hypocrisy of his opponents and a smug media club that frantically tried to turn lead into gold. Just like in 2016 Harris has opted not to address her supporters as election night draws to a close. Soon members of the Democratic aristocracy will blame this loss on mysoginy, racism, homophobia, Jill Stein, college kids, maybe some Russians, and will twist and turn to avoid admitting that the Democratic Party operates like a blackmailing boogieman to prevent real progressive candidates to take the lead.

Claiming that a vote for you is a vote to save democracy when you have been standing in the way of a real democratic process within your own party is not a winning strategy. The Democratic Party would have had to hook up people to XTC pumps for anyone to feel real joy over hollow Harris. As a classic bully Trump stops being a major threat as soon as he feels like nobody is threatening his sense of being superior to everyone else. So the best case scenario is four years of unpredictable statements, self-flattering rhetoric, tax cuts, the creation of a few million jobs with poor protections for workers, anti-immigrant policies, China bashing, book banning in schools, bigotry, some outrageous behaviour here and there, but hopefully no major wars…
