Warning: This X post contains positive vibes, scroll on now before you’re infected. A visit to the Zoo in Antwerp. One hour and 20 minutes by train. The adults rode the rails for 20 euro there and back. Some of the most modern trains in Europe. My son went for free, as all kids under 12. Bought tissues for my son who’s got the sniffles at a pharmacy. Lady behind the register was a Nubian queen with a Dutch accent from Holland. Walked past two veiled women with prams, Moroccan roots if I had to venture a guess. They spoke Dutch with a typical Antwerp accent, it has a very distinct sounding vowel A. The Zoo is right next to the central train station. Tickets checked by a young black man with dreadlocks, very friendly, winked at us. The zoo is extremely neat. You can buy typical Belgian style French fries in the middle of the zoo. All cultures were enjoying them. On the way back we got a bottle of water (you can find a popular CNN article right now with Americans whining you can’t get water in Europe… Jeez… The negative click bait that is produced non-stop in the fight for your eye balls…). The man behind the register had obvious North-African roots, was perfectly friendly, genuinely warm, spoke an almost accent free Dutch. That multicultural society seems to be rolling along just fine.

I don’t care about zoos and only went there for my son, he observed the animals, I observed the animals, who like us had to pay an entrance fee to get in.

Came home, my mum’s cleaning lady from Rwanda opened the door for us and hugged my son and made jokes. A lovely lady who gets paid via some government system to provide the elderly with assistance.

It was a great day, so sorry for boring you.

PS

At no point did we fear a mass shooting.
