The symbol of Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, is the dragon.
I was excited to receive these chocolates with these dragons emblazoned.
It’s been years since I have been to Slovenia. Originally I was planning to emigrate to Slovenia, not Slovakia. It’s kind of a ‘happy’ accident that I ended up in Slovakia.
Some of my best memories are connected to Slovenia. Such as one of the best teachers I have ever had, romantic adventures, a beautiful language. Slovenia is also a country that takes literature very seriously. This is very different in Slovakia. I almost never meet Slovaks who read Slovak novels. I don’t find this too strange as I stopped reading Belgian novels many years ago. Except for comic books and books by Belgian psychologist Paul Verhaeghe I almost never read any Belgian or Dutch books. Why do I mention Belgian and Dutch books together? Because I would say that my native country is a fusion of Belgium and The Netherlands.
Anyway, a charming gift that brought back many memories.

I love Slovenia! It’s a little paradise in the middle of Europe and Ljubljana is one of the most beautiful and cosiest cities I have visited. There are places that just make you feel good and Ljubljana is definitely one of them.
